1. Tempered glass description:

Tempered, Heat strengthened is normal annealed glass to quench heated and processed by the glass surface with a strong pressure should be uniform, and multiplying the mechanical strength of glass. Shape included flat and curved shape.

2. Tempered glass features:

1) Intensity: Its performance of anti-impact, anti-bending and anti-temperature, all around 3-5 times than ordinary glass (annealed glass).
2) Safety: Tempered glass is hard to break, even broken, it will become lots of mini pieces, will not cause bad hurt to people.
3) Thermal stability: Tempered glass also has excellent stability under large difference in temperature (within 300centigrade)

What is tempered glass?

Clear/ultra clear tempered glass is made by forming compressive stress on the surface of the glass and heating the glass up to its intenerating temperature and then make the glass uniform cooling quickly. During the process of cooling, the exterior part of the glass is solidified because of the rapid cooling, while the interior part of the glass shrinks because of slow cooling, then forming compressive stress on the surface of the glass and tensile stress inside the glass, thus improving the intensity and heat stability of the glass. And when the breakage occur, its fragment will be harmeless to human.

Laminated glass is a kind of safety glass which is manufactured by adhering two or more pieces of glass together with a flexible interlayer by using high temperature and pressure in an autoclave. The interlayer is generally either  PVB (poly vinyl butyral) or Sentryglas Plus film (SGP).

HEAT SOAKED TREATMENT- LOWER THE RATE OF GLASS SELF-EXPLOSION
Overview of Heat Soak Glass:
Tempering process increases the strength of glass many folds, offering a greater resistance to breakage. However, the raw-materials used in the manufacturing of tempered glass are not free from certain defects like nickel-rich contaminants such as stainless steel might be present, and then combine with sulphur to form nickel sulphide inclusions, which put tempered glass at potential risk of spontaneous breakage.

Spontaneous breakage due to NiS inclusions:
When glass is heat-treated, the nickel sulfide inclusions are modified into a form that grows or transforms with time and temperature. Once glass is installed and the nickel sulfide inclusions are solar heated, small cracks may develop from the inclusion. If these cracks penetrate the tension layer of fully tempered glass, the resulting release of energy will cause the glass to spontaneously break.

NiS inclusions change their structure and volume during the heating process of tempering. This changed state is ^trapped^ during the quenching process. So at room temperature, the NiS inclusions tend to change back to their original state, which having bigger volume, cause spontaneous breakage. This changing back of state could happen in a few minutes to a few years, making it unpredictable when the tempered glass may break. To minimize the risk of NiS breakages, a heat soak test is performed.
